Having a very energetic two-year-old teaches you a whole lot about life, about patience, about God, and about something new this week. My wife and I have been trying to potty train Anaiah with some inconsistent success. We decided to take a break from potty training after Anaiah looked dead in our faces and proceeded to empty her bladder onto the floor as if she’d never heard of potty training ever.

As you can probably tell, we were pretty much spent after that experience and decided, you know what, let’s get back to it later. And you know what? It’s been going ok. We haven’t gone back yet, but she lets us know when she’s going and recognizes that it doesn’t feel good to sit in pee and poop. I hope she keeps that into adulthood. But those small wins with my daughter reminded me that sometimes it’s ok to start over and get back to basics. And fortunately, I’ve had a great, long-time friend give me that opportunity.
